Dr. Durst’s 2022 Trinity Conference handouts
Who God Is and Is Not Handout (This was also presented during the 2021 Intro to the Trinity Conference Session 3)
Event Keynote Speaker:
Rick Durst – Dr. Durst loves the classroom, be it face to face or virtual. He teaches theology and history from a leadership formation perspective. His passion is for developing life-changing ways of communicating and teaching Christian truth for transformation, retention and rapid reproduction.
His current research includes study of emerging church movements, ecclesiology for rapid cell and simple church multiplication, new paths for apologetics, single adults in the church, and faith and film. He has recently published Reordering the Trinity (Kregel, 2015) and has multiple essays in Church Fails: 100 Blunders in Church History and what we can learn from them (B&H Publishing Group, 2016) and the chapter “Robust Ecclesiology” in the book edited by President Iorg, Ministry in the New Marriage Culture (B&H, 2015).
Dr. Durst tests what he teaches in his local church and ministers in churches in the west. From 1978-1991 he was a pastor in Santa Rosa and Vallejo. He loves cooking, hiking and art. He and his wife, Kristi, live in Lake Forest and have three adult children and three grandchildren.
Matthew Sanders – Dr. Sanders became the senior pastor of Wai’alae Baptist Church in August 2015. He had previously served as a professor at The College at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Matt and his wife, Cheryl, grew up in Hawaii and lived most of their lives here.
They have three daughters, Kiyomi, Ariel, and Keiko. Matt has a Ph.D. in theology from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, a master of arts in theology from Southwestern, and a bachelor of arts in journalism from the University of Hawaii.
His favorite theological topic is anything to do with the Trinity. His desire is to see Waialae Baptist become a disciple-making and disciple-sending church all to the glory of God. In his spare time, Matt likes to run, lift weights, and play golf poorly.
